hello, there.
by the time you are reading this I might be sleeping or working with my schoolwork, haha, but please know that God has a purpose why He let you click that link back on my FB and led you here. This message is for you.
Tired? Tired.
Restless? Restless.
Okay? Kinda.
Sometimes, life got the best out of us and we just might feel those feelings. But let me share something with you.
In one of the prayer meetings I have joined, I came across a common Bible verse that says,
“Blessed the Lord, oh My soul. Worship His holy name.” (Psalms 103:1)
Pastora Jane told us that this is the way David encouraged himself. At first, I thought that this verse was simply praising God for all that He has done, that’s what I thought it was. But deep down on that verse, there was a hidden story about David encouraging his soul ‘to bless the name of the Lord’ and forget not all His benefits. Pastora Jane then explained that there are REALLY times in David’s life that he became discouraged and no one was there to comfort him except himself.
David had times where he became so depressed and there he went, like tapping his own shoulder saying to his soul to bless and to trust the name of the Lord. In our lives, we might wake up one day and feel so burden by the weight of the world. We might see a terrible exam and we do not know how to start answering it, we might get clash with a financial setback, we might just discover that our health is declining, feeling the ever painful nostalgia about a loved one’s death, difficulties in finding direction in life, and or simply finding ourselves in the indescribable numbness that resembles loneliness and sadness. (This one is an emotionally exhausting circumstance.)
There are no perfect days. Sometimes there are really moments so unimaginable, so deep voided longing that requires us to intentionally speak to our souls TO BLESS HIS HOLY NAME. There are days that there will be no one to encourage us to continue walking in our journey with the Lord, however, David’s example to REMEMBER God in the most difficult moments and making ourselves intently encourage our ever wandering spirit to trust upon Him should be done.
You might be the one who’s in such a situation right now, may I say to tap your shoulder and remind yourself to bless the name of the Lord and forget not all His benefits. It’s hard to do it if your emotions just refuse to feel fine, right? but do it anyway. It’s not also magic to feel fine instantly, sometimes we have to endure the feelings of restlessness until it is gone. The Bible is right when it says, we should live by faith and not by sight because if we let our emotions spur all the time, we will lose the battle that might just be won one feeling away.
…and even in our last giving breathe, may ourselves be the one to ENCOURAGE our souls to get closer to the Lord regardless of the fear of the unknowns (if there is). Surely, the Lord will come to us like rain and as sure as the dawn comforting us through it all.
“…and on that day when my strength is failing, the end draws near and my time has come. Still, my soul will sing your praise unending. Ten thousand reasons and then forevermore”.’
In our walk in the Lord, and in this life in general, REMEMBERING His faithfulness and ENCOURAGING our weary souls are things we have to cling unto.
Let us together tap our own shoulders and say the words to our dearest soul, “Bless the Lord, oh my soul”, and keep going.
God bless you in every endeavor you are taking in life right now, and remember that in every season, God’s grace will always be available for us because He is faithful.
always,
Kryzylle Nicole
