God is More than just a Motivation

I know I may go against some perspective but take time to read. One of the trends in our age is the “Christian Motivational Speaking” which we see in vlogs, TikTok, Instagram, youtube, and Facebook. It’s good, uplifting, and of course motivational, but as I watched and listened to various contents, it has some dangers if the speaker is not aware, the idea of motivating people and adding God in the subject, “Adding God in the Subject” yes, God is not the subject but He becomes an object of motivation:

•The audience becomes the subject, not God.

•People’s comfort is the goal and not the truth behind their problems and struggle.

•There is less/nothing spoken about SIN and its consequences, it might offend the audience.

•God is just added in the scene but He is not the focus, “you, your life, how to overcome this and that, how to have this and that, wealth, prosperity and etc . . .” There’s nothing wrong with “Christian Motivational Speaking” the Bible tells to encourage and love one another, but some of the dangers are:

1. The audience (Especially Baby Christians/Unbelievers) might get the wrong concept of God, and when what they expect won’t happen (The good life, wealth, good health, stress-free, and problem exempted living, etc . .) they might be confused, discouraged and worst, fall from faith.

2. The Christian motivational speaker might miss the mark if he/she is not aware, our great commission as stated in Matthew 28:19‭-‬20, “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

•We are called to preach the good news, the truth, and how to live a life of obedience before God, that’s when the real blessing/motivation is manifested in our lives.

3. God becomes less revered as He is portrayed as the last option, the genie, the bank, the tears wiper, the body guard and many more. Just look at how the Bible describes GOD being GOD:

1. Jeremiah 5:22-24 ‘Do you not fear Me?’ declares the Lord. ‘Do you not tremble in My presence? For I have placed the sand as a boundary for the sea, An eternal decree, so it cannot cross over it. Though the waves toss, yet they cannot prevail; Though they roar, yet they cannot cross over it. ‘But these people has a stubborn and rebellious heart; They have turned aside and departed. ‘They do not say in their heart, “Let us now fear the Lord our God, Who gives rain in its season, Both the autumn rain and the spring rain, Who keeps for us The appointed weeks of the harvest.”

2. Psalm 33:8-9 Let all the earth fear the Lord; Let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of Him. For He spoke, and it was done; He commanded, and it stood fast.

3. 1 Chronicles 16:25 For great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised; He also is to be feared above all gods.

4. Revelation 15:4 “Who will not fear, O Lord, and glorify Your name? For You alone are holy; For all the nations will come and worship before You, For Your righteous acts have been revealed.

5. Psalms 24:1 The earth is the LORD’s, and everything in it. The world and all its people belong to him.

6. Romans 11:36, “For everything comes from him and exists by his power and is intended for his glory. All glory to him forever! Amen.

7. Genesis 1:1 “God created the heavens and the earth.”

My brothers and sisters in Christ, a loving reminder: God is not just a MOTIVATION, the LAST FRONTIER, or a SOLUTION to your problems, HE IS GOD!

“He is to be loved, revered, praised worship, adored, and obeyed.”

To all Christian motivational speakers out there, continue to inspire people TO GOD, strengthen people IN THE LORD, and LEAD PEOPLE to Jesus. Blessed day.
