Dear Reader,
I watched The Chronicles of Narnia: Voyage of the Dawn Treader last night and was touched by what Eustace told Edmund about Aslan.
“So what was it like when Aslan changed you back?” asked Edmund.
Note that Eustace turned into a dragon because he gave in to the temptation of stealing the gold stuff. In the latter part of the story, Aslan transforms Eustace into a boy again.
Eustace replied, “No matter how hard I tried, I couldn’t do it myself. Then He came towards me. It sort of hurt, but it was a good pain. You know, like when you pull a thorn from your foot.”
I cannot help but think about what Eustace said about trying our own sometimes. Nothing best describes that scene, like saving ourselves from sinfulness. Our depravity. It does remind me of CHRIST‘s role in our lives. The same thing that ASLAN did to Eustace, saving him from his mess, is like what CHRIST did to me and to all those who believe in HIM.
We cannot try to win against our sins, and we can only really surrender them in the feet of CHRIST and be assured that HIS imputed righteousness to us will be enough to justify us before GOD the Father. That same Grace that saved us from the start shall be the same Grace that will sustain us until we finish this race we have been called heavenwards.
I hope this is a great reminder for you not to trust in our own good works and self righteousness, but to trust in CHRIST alone.
Happy weekend!
Have a blessed night. Grace be upon you.
Sincerely,
Kryz.
