Dear Reader,
hi. i am recycling another letter from the past. hahaha. enjoy!

Having a toolkit around the house can be really helpful when something’s broken. When something’s broken it usually brings us discomfort. Like you know, when your kitchen’s faucet isn’t working well, you needed some tools to make it work again. You yourself need to know where are these tools are because it is your house and it is but imperative for you to know how to use it so that its purpose will be served. To say the least, having a toolkit can be an instant patch to something broken that can be fixed, if you HAVE IT WITH YOU, and when you are ABLE to use it.
A utility toolkit can save one’s discomfort.
This reminds me of Batman’s utility belt. The Dark Knight’s costume has this attribute of belt. Superhero like Batman do not have superpowers, sadly. That is why a superhero like him can rely on his intellectual ability, and his belt can be of huge help. The belt can carry Batman’s crime-fighting tools. As we knew, this belt can make a villain electrocuted in one touch. This belt can relinquish daze (gas) in stopping its appearance.
The belt. A strap and a buckle. Ten pouches. On the outside, there are cylindric cartridges being inclined. You can find bolas, grappling hook, smoke and gas palletes, glue goblets, napalm gel, etc.
Alright, what i am saying here, actually i can say it straight, right? but since i love Batman’s utility belt as a metaphor for my topic, I am bringing you here, in this writing.
A lot of times… in our lives, we have discomfort moments. I mean, not the kitchen’s faucet issue. We have villains around us, but not of Batman’s ever obsessed rival— the Joker. These discomforts sometimes linger inside us, in our emotions, the way we handle things inside our minds.
The constant discomfort of thinking overly about something we knew is not even logical to think— yet it is there, and it makes us uneasy. The triggers. The villain. So dark. Past memories. Whether it be a trauma of a place, with a person, with a stubborn memory… these are villains that can hold our necks and can grip us until we could not breathe, anymore.
What…are we going to do? Where’s your toolkit? is there any…toolkit?
yes. your own toolkit. your own utility belt. we need to have our own utility belt in pursuit of gaining back our senses. the catch? only you can really know what are these, and in knowing this, it is but essential to be able to know your weakness so that you can be able to patch these weaknesses into strength.
just like Batman, i think it is up to you to decide what inside of these compartments because you have the access towards it. when low mood comes what would you do? would you like to just stay in bed and let it all gone? nah, right? maybe you’ll stay in bed for a while, but after that, there must be an act that you can do to combat such. hmmmm. alcohol? i’m not saying it’s not the ideal thing to do, but nevertheless, you can ask the question if it is helpful and sustainable in the long run? you might want to have some compartments’ option in which:
- grounding technique. breathe in and breathe out. find the nearest object near you. is it cool or warm? feel its texture. how about its color? identify it. in this simple way, it is helpful to put back our mental focus on the present.
- go for a walk.
- write it out ( what you feel ) in a piece of paper.
the list could go on… the thing is, you should know where you can stand your ground when uneasiness comes, and when you master it, no matter what the discomfort or villains in any form come, you can always go back to your utility belt and use it in times of need.
to share mine… i usually write, it helps a lot in managing my thoughts. i close my eyes and say a prayer because it calms me every single time. also, listening to music like Shane and Shane’s SOVEREIGN OVER US and Hillsong’s JESUS I NEED YOU, these songs really do the trick. well, sometimes it’s hard, that’s why i let it pass for some seconds and see to it if what i am really feeling is rational or helpful for me, and when i come to know the answer behind, it eventually clearing the cobwebs of doubts inside my mind, and then i begin to look at the things in the appropriate perspective.
… but i have to be honest that deep down within me i know it is always been HIM. GOD is my utility belt… every step of the way, HE is there, HE has exactly what i need. The owner of the universe, has plenty of supplies— of things that we need not just to ease our discomfort, but also a A COMPANY TO THE LONESOME, a friend to the friendless, a listener to those who would want to be understood, a lover to those whose hearts are broken, and this kind of toolkit, it can never fade away, it lasts until eternity… it is within me, cannot be stolen. just recently, i had a little emotional discomfort, and i knew bringing it to Him through prayer is the first step to go.
…and this toolkit is above all things… it transcends through eternity.
i hope whatever you have there as your “in case of emergency”, toolkit or belt, may it brings you the peace and the help you desperately needed at that moment.
so, what will be your Batman’s belt?
~
have a goodnight & GOD BLESS YOU!
Sincerely,
Kryz.
